Method and worked example

base days = (end date − start date) + 1 calendar day

planned days = base days + entered contingency days

optional simple price ratio = entered purchase price ÷ entered weekly hire price

Worked example: Monday 20 July 2026 through Thursday 23 July 2026 is 4 inclusive calendar days; plus 1 contingency day gives 5 planned calendar days. In the fixed worked example, £400 ÷ £45 per week = 8.888… weeks, displayed as 8.9 weeks.
